On June 29, 2015, at 12:52 a.m. FDLFR responded to a report of a detached garage fire to the rear of 274 E. 1st Street. Upon arrival crews experienced heavy fire conditions and a garage fully involved in fire. Crews had to use extreme caution due to power lines in close proximity that were damaged by the fire. A neighboring detached garage sustained moderate damage from the fire building. Police and fire investigators will be remaining on scene to determine the cause of the fire. Alliant Energy was called to the scene and secured electrical services. Several neighboring residents will be without power why energy crews repair damaged power lines. Police officers were on-scene and provided scene safety and assisted with initial fire investigation. Fire crews will be out later today canvassing the area distributing fire safety information to neighboring residents.
