Fond du lac police blocked off several streets near the city-county government center Tuesday evening after a resident reported finding what appeared to be an old rocket grenade in their basement.  Fond du Lac assistant police chief Steve Klein says a man was cleaning out his basement when he found the military ordnance.  The man put the device in his vehicle and drove to the government center and called police. “From our sources, Lieutenant Ed Wenzel, who has been in the military believes its some type of Vietnam era or World War Two era rocket-propelled grenade,”  Klein told WFDL news.   Klein says anyone who comes across what appears to be an old military ordnance in their home should leave it alone and call police.  Fond du Lac police contacted a bomb squad from Brown County to dispose of the device.  Police say it turned out to be inert and was designed for training.
