5-10-16 tv stations pull “inaccurate” johnson ads

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A conservative group has revised a television ad attacking Democrat Russ Feingold after three Wisconsin television stations pulled the original from the air.   The super PAC Freedom Partners Action Fund on Monday changed the ad after stations in Madison and Green Bay pulled it following complaints from Feingold that it was factually incorrect.  The PAC funded by conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch is supporting Republican Sen. Ron Johnson in his re-election bid against Feingold.  The original ad that’s part of a $2 million buy focused on claims that Feingold ignored a 2009 memo from a whistleblower detailing allegations of over-prescribing of opiates at the Tomah facility.  Feingold and the memo’s author both say he did not receive it, so the new ad emphasizes other documents detailing problems at Tomah.
