11-29-19 owner of vacant fdl convent building files appeal

The owner of a vacant Fond du Lac convent building has filed an appeal in an effort to prevent the city from razing the structure.  Fond du Lac County Circuit judge Robert Wirtz will hear arguments Tuesday on a request by the owner of  the Sisters of the Holy Nativity Convent to prevent the city from demolishing the building.  Earlier this month the judge lifted a temporary restraining order against the city clearing the way for demolition of the building on West Division Street.  The building was severely damaged by an arson fire in June 2015.  The city has argued that no significant effort has been made to repair the convent and that it presents a danger to the community.
