8-18-20 fdl county back in “red” category for covid cases

Fond du Lac County is on the verge of taking a step backward in the fight against the coronavirus.   After a record number of COVID-19 cases last week, there were 34 new cases over the weekend,  pushing the county into the “Red” category of the county’s  Safer Reopening plan.   Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says if the county stays in the Red category for two straight weeks the county would go back to Phase One of the Reopening plan.  “So this next week will help determine if we’re going to stay in Phase Two or if we’re going to go back to Phase One,”  Mueller told WFDL news.    Mueller says the biggest change would be limiting public gatherings from 50 people down to 10 people.   Mueller says many new cases last week were the result of larger gatherings including a fundraiser at the American Legion in Fond du Lac and the Eden picnic.
