With Democratic challenger Joe Biden deciding not to come to Milwaukee this week to accept his party’s presidential nomination, the question is will Biden make a physical campaign stop in the Badger state before the election during the coronavirus pandemic? In 2016 many Democrats were upset that Hillary Clinton never set foot in Wisconsin and ended up losing the state by less than 23,000 votes. President Trump and vice president Mike Pence have made multiple visits to Wisconsin including a Pence stop in Ripon last month. Trump and Pence are back in Wisconsin this week. Retired Ripon College political scientist Marty Farrell says the in-person appearances are about getting out the vote. “You’re not necessarily going to convert people from one side to the other, but the main thing is to simulate the turnout,” Farrell told WFDL news.
