1-13-21 fdl city manager-2021 preview

A Lakeside Park alternative master plan and a public safety referendum are two of the top issues facing the city of Fond du lac in 2021.  Fond du Lac residents will decide an annual $1.3 million referendum to add six new firefighter/paramedics and six new police officers in the April election.  City manager Joe Moore says the city hasn’t added to either department over  the last 20 years while calls for service have gone up.  Moore says the city also hopes to accelerate it’s lead pipe replacement program this year.  With a pending lawsuit, Moore says it remains to be seen if the controversial Lakeside Park alternative master plan is resolved this year.  That plans calls for building a restaurant on the lighthouse peninsula and amphitheater on Oven Island.
