12-14-21 covid-19 cases increasing in fdl schools

The Fond du Lac School District superintendent says the number of students and staff testing positive for COVID1-9 have steadily increased since the Thanksgiving break.  Superintendent Dr. Jeff Fleig updated the school board at their meeting Monday night.  Dr. Fleig says as a result of the increase in cases four elementary  schools in the district are now requiring masks.   Dr. Fleig admits there were discussions about virtual learning when COVID cases were spiking in October coupled with a substitute teacher shortage.  “My concern is we had staff constantly subbing in addition to teaching and that is not good, especially in our elementary schools,”   Fleig told WFDL news.  “Asking elementary teachers to sub in addition to their regular teaching duties is hard.  We were concerned.  Right now we’re doing okay.”
