A downtown Fond du Lac bar is in the running to appear on the popular television reality show Bar Rescue. Six representatives of the Paramount Network show were in Fond du Lac last week to talk with Top Shelf Sports Bar and Grille owners Kari and Craig Koenigs and staff members. While Top Shelf doesn’t necessarily fit the description of many establishments the show has attempted to save from going under, Craig Koenigs, says the pandemic certainly took it’s toll. The Koenigs say if they are selected their main goal is trying to learn how to get those customers back that were lost during the pandemic, and the best approach to retrain and attract solid employees. Craig Koenigs says he hopes the program can help address a problem with employee turnover, and just to overall improve efficiency. “I think the overall benefit with the bar and the kitchen, so we’re not losing money and the bar can be running a lot more efficient.” Kari Koenigs says it’s important not to lose sight of the end goal. “One, how do we get extra customers?” “Two: helping me do better by our staff, which is our main goal.” The Koenigs say they hope to know in the next two to three weeks if they are selected to be on the program.
