Jeff Puddy was selected as Marian University’s Veteran of the Month for January.    Puddy served as a navigation electronics technician in the U.S. Navy for six years from 1983-1989, and was in the submarine force from 1985-1989.    “You can’t go wrong entering the military,” said Puddy. “The benefits of training and getting to travel are amazing; plus, you get your education paid for through the GI Bill. Honestly, it was a great experience and I would advise anyone to consider it as a career option.” Puddy currently works at Mercury Marine, and volunteers with the local Legion Hall, where he has served as the past post commander. He also volunteers with the Legion Riders Club and is a founding member of the Navy Club.   The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen receives a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in the traditional undergraduate program or any of adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients are honored with a monthly ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.   Deserving veterans may be nominated by visiting www.sunny977.com. Marian University will select one veteran at the end of each month.
