3-14-19 fdl council candidates, derek terbeest, alicia hans

When Fond du Lac voters go to the polls next month they will decide between six candidates running for three seats on city council.  Former councilmember Derek Terbeest and challenger Alicia Hans are two of the candidates.   Terbeest has lived in Fond du Lac for nine years and works as a car salesman in Ripon.  He previously served on the council for one term.  “My whole reason for being on council and coming back, just watching the way our city spends money both on economic development and on our overall budget, I’ve seen some projects come through that I thought were great investments and some projects that I thought we’re over spending,”  Terbeest said.  Hans is a native of Neenah and works as a licensed clinical social worker.  Hans says she is running for council because she has always wanted to serve her community in a bigger way.  “The opportunity to be a part of local government and to represent my city and my neighborson the community level is a really exciting opportunity for me,”  Hans told WFDL news.  Terbeest says his top priority would be to hold the line on taxes.  Hans says her top priority would be to promote the council and the ideas that come forward to be discussed and decided.    Fifteen years down the road Terbeest says he envisions a community with thriving small businesses.   Hans says she wants to see Fond du Lac continue to move in an upward direction attracting young professionals to the community.
